The calls offered by the Corporation Center for Excellence in Marine Sciences – CEMarin are aimed at Ph.D. students who meet the requirements set by the Scientific Committee; these are established in Call No. 3 permanently open since 2015.

CEMarin informs the opening of the Call No. 12 of 2018 to offer financial support to CEMarin Early Stage Researchers for their doctoral thesis projects in marine sciences and related topics.

The Category CEMarin Early Stage Researchers (ESR), defined by the Scientific Committee of the Corporation in 2015, allows doctoral students who meet the requirements established in Call No. 3 to become official members of CEMarin, giving them the opportunity to share their research projects with other marine sciences students and researchers. Likewise it allows them to participate in other CEMarin calls and be eligible to financial support for courses, workshops and scholarships.
Within the framework of this call, permanently open since September 10th, 2015, twenty six (26) students have been selected as CEMarin ESR. The results of this call can be checked here.
During the past three (3) years, within the framework of its calls, CEMarin has provided financial and administrative support to about thirty (30) doctoral students through different doctoral fellowships, thesis co-direction between Colombian and German scientists; internships at partner institutions; funding of thesis projects; and the organization of basic field courses, specialized advanced courses, and workshops and seminars taught in Colombia and Germany.

The CEMarin Researchers are professors and/or leaders of research groups of the member institutions of the Corporation that have expressed their interest in actively contributing to CEMarin.

If you meet all the requirements, but your advisor or thesis co-advisor is not a CEMarin Researcher, any of them should contact the representative of the CEMarin Scientific Committee in the institution to which he belongs and tell him that he wants to become a CEMarin Researcher. The representative of the Corporation CEMarin Scientific Committee will inform the interested party about the benefits and commitments that are acquired by being a CEMarin Researcher, and will send the request to the Scientific Committee to make a decision on the matter.
If you meet all the requirements, but your advisor or thesis co-advisor is not a CEMarin researcher and is not part of the member institutions of the Corporation either, the director must request the Scientific Committee of the Corporation to grant him or her the category of CEMarin Associate Investigator. The Committee will study the petition and make a decision on it.
The CEMarin Associate Researchers are professors and / or leaders of research groups of institutions that are not members of the Corporation but have expressed interest in actively contributing to CEMarin.
